ALEXANDRE YOTOPOULOS DEFENDED HIS DOCTORAL THESIS IN PRISON

On Thursday July 8, 2021 at 10:00 am,  in a special room in Korydallos prison, Alexandre Yotopoulos defended his doctoral thesis “On the resolution of the Navier-Stokes equations without vertical viscosity” before a jury composed of Michel Broué, University of Paris, (President of the jury), Isabelle Gallagher University of Paris Diderot (its thesis director), the rapporteurs Pierre-Gilles Lemarié (University of Evry), and Annne-Laure Dalibard (Sorbonne University), Georges Skandalis (Paris Diderot) and Frédéric Charve University of Paris-Est Créteil, (Examiners).

At the end of the defense, the jury retired to deliberate. Then, the President proclaimed Alexandre Yotopoulos Doctor of Mathematics from the University of Paris.

This is the first time, both in Greece and in France, that a prisoner has managed to follow university studies from the first cycle to the defense of a doctoral thesis in prison and this under totally unacceptable conditions.
